The transcription system we call User Friendly spells out Armenian words for English speakers.

9 represents the Armenian letter ը and is pronounced like the 'o' in 'lemon'

u represents the Armenian letters ու and is pronounced like the 'oo' in 'school'

gh represents the Armenian letter ղ and is pronounced like the 'gh' in Agha

kh represents the Armenian letter խ and is pronounced similar to the 'ch' in 'Bach' or 'chutzpah'

ts represents the Armenian letters ձ and ց and is pronounced like the 'ts' in 'cats'

dz represents the Armenian letter ծ and is pronounced like the 'ds' in 'dads'

ch represents the Armenian letters չ and ջ and is pronounced like the 'ch' in 'check'

zh represents the Armenian letter ժ and is pronounced like the 's' in 'treasure'

j represents the Armenian letter ճ and is pronounced like the 'j' in 'just'
